Are you a fan of fish, one of the March Foods of the Month? If so, you have probably tried tilapia before. It is that white, flaky fish with a mild flavor. The great thing about tilapia is that it can be prepared in so many different ways. Check out our favorite ways for eating this healthy, protein-rich food:
Baked Tilapia – Lay out a piece of tin foil and place one tilapia filet and your favorite veggies (we like broccoli, carrots and cauliflower) on top. Top with salt and pepper and a squeeze of lemon. Wrap up the fish and veggies in the tin foil and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Unwrap the tip foil for a super healthy and easy dinner.
Tilapia Tacos – Use tilapia in your favorite taco recipe! Add pan cooked tilapia pieces to a lettuce taco wrap or whole wheat tortillas and top with cilantro, avocado, tomato and onion.
Tilapia Burgers – Use your blender to finely chop up tilapia filets. Mix with breadcrumbs, one egg plus one egg white, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic and lime juice. Mold the mixture into patties and cook on the stove top for about 20 minutes, until cooked through. Serve on a whole wheat bun and top with lots of veggies.
